On 24 November, Imran Khan in his third submission to the Supreme Court stated the PTI had decided to march towards D-Chowk response to the “violence and brutality” unleashed on his supporters by the government. This comes as the Interior Ministry told the court that Imran Khan had lied about not being aware of the court’s orders. However, Imran Khan said, “My party leaders and I have been under immense pressure since May 24 because of the atrocities carried out against us and our activists by the government.” He added that his party was compelled to use social media because the government had banned electronic media from giving coverage of his march and that the protest was called in response to the “violence and brutality” unleashed on his supporters by the government.
The interior ministry informed the court that “factual assertions” made by Imran Khan about the presence of jammers were “incorrect” and “wholly inaccurate” as it submitted to the SC live videos, messages, calls, feeds on social media, Twitter posts from the official accounts of the party’s senior leadership. It added that these social media activities showed that Imran Khan and other PTI leaders were well-aware of the court orders.
